P A P E R:
Only use the best paper you can find, even though it will cost a little bit more.
The special properties of the pigments are set loose in a way that is not possible with a simpler
paper. Flowers, edge-biting, contrast, colour-depth. The painting appears to help you paint it!
So let go of the "waste materials"-fear and treat yourself to a better paper. You can paint on the
backside or wash everything out if things go terribly wrong.
At least 300 g/m2. Cotton, entirely or part.
Two favourites:

Withstands any treatment! Wash away, scrape, overpaint. Wonderful "oomph" in every brushstroke,
the pigments behave just like they should! Feels luxurious with both relief and watermark.
Arches website
Fabriano Artistico rough 300g.
A little more offwhite than Arches, a little rougher grain. Similar properties, lovely edgebites ans areas.
Possibly a little more "runny". It takes longer for the paint to creep down into the paper.
The colours "die" a little in the drying process, but this paper is still worth trying.
